My projects
What I’ve been making, with photographs of the finished pieces and the work behind them.
28 projects

Three colours, one handle
Kitchen knife · 2026
Green, pale striped wood, and a reddish end piece meet in one shaped handle. Fine contrasting lines run through the joins. The photographs follow the loose blocks through assembly and finishing, ending with the knife in its presentation box.

Blue-handled chef’s knife
Kitchen knife & leather sheath · 2025
A deep blue handle, a patterned blade, and a brown leather sheath made to fit. The workshop sequence shows the handle taking shape, followed by the cutting, stitching, and finishing of the sheath.

Red & green kitchen knives
Kitchen knives & leatherwork · 2025
Two kitchen knives with red and green handles, each fitted with contrasting bands near the blade. Their gallery follows the handle work and the making of the leather sheaths, from paper patterns to stitched pieces.

A handle in stripes
Kitchen knife & leather sheath · 2025
The handle starts as a row of separate coloured pieces on the bench. Once assembled and shaped, they form the stripes running along the finished grip. The final photographs show the patterned blade and its dark leather sheath.

Dark-handled kitchen knife
Kitchen knife · 2025–2026
A slim kitchen knife with a dark, tapered handle and narrow coloured bands beside the blade. The workshop photographs follow the separate parts through fitting and assembly, with the finished knife photographed on a well-used cutting board.

Coated blades, handles in progress
Workshop sequence · 2026
Five photographs from the bench show handle blanks being fitted and shaped around coated blades. The sequence stops during assembly, with the pins still projecting from the handle.

A knife for a friend’s father
Knife & sheath
Made for the father of my friend Lacika: a patterned blade, a sculpted wooden handle, and a fitted leather sheath. The close-ups follow the shaping of the handle and the details of the leatherwork.

Hamburger Ötzi
LED lighting · Prototype to finished build
The LEDs worked; the prototype was simply too big. I rebuilt the three-LED light inside a Cateye HL-1500 housing, with a smaller copper heat-pipe cooler and a handlebar remote connection. The layered construction and the Ötzi cooler gave it its name: “Hamburger Ötzi.” The gallery includes the earlier prototype.

Terrariums, built to fit
Enclosures, backgrounds & lighting
Keeping geckos led to building their enclosures. I made terrariums for Madagascar day geckos and leopard geckos, then built enclosures and backgrounds for other keepers too. These earlier projects show the process from an empty enclosure and a shaped background to fitted lighting and the finished interior.

Belső tűz
“Inner fire” · Knife & sheath
“Belső tűz” means “Inner fire.” A red band interrupts the dark handle, and the textured sheath repeats the red accents. The knife and its sheath were made as one project.

Three-LED cycle light
Custom bicycle lighting · 2007
Built in 2007 around three Cree XR-E LEDs and a round optic. Other cyclists saw it on my bike and wanted one, so I made more and revised the design as I went. The photographs show the components, wiring, finished housings, and beam tests.

Silver inlay & wave Damascus
Handle, silver inlay & leatherwork
I made this knife for a colleague around a wave-pattern Damascus blade by Szasza (Szántó Szabolcs). Szálkai Robi forged the bolster material. I used water-buffalo horn for the handle, inlaid it with sterling-silver wire, and made the fitted cowhide sheath.

Ed & son
Knives & leather sheaths
A pair of knives made for Ed and his son. Each has a figured wooden handle and its own fitted leather sheath. Photographed together, the differences in their proportions are easier to see.

Bone-trimmed tanto
Knife & wooden sheath
A tanto with contrasting bone trim and a wooden sheath, nicknamed “Csont síléces” in the original project notes. Closed, the handle and sheath form a continuous shape.

Andris’s knife
Knife & stitched sheath
Made for my friend Andris, with a layered handle and what I called a “zipper” sheath. The gallery shows the alternating handle sections, the long leather sheath, and its stitched edge.

A second life for two torches
LED conversion · Helmet light
The useful part of these inexpensive torches was the metal housing. I kept that, replaced the internals with Cree XR-E LEDs in copper cups, and added a magnet salvaged from a hard drive to make helmet mounting easier. The result was a narrow-beam cycling headlamp.

A pair for the kitchen
Kitchen knives
Two broad blades with light, figured handles. Photographed together from both sides to show the blade shapes and handle profiles.

A small covered knife
Knife & fitted wooden cover
One of the knives made for a colleague and her grandchild. Matching figured wood forms the handle and protective cover. Open, the patterned blade is visible; closed, it becomes one compact piece.

Composite handle, fitted leather
Knife & leatherwork
A knife made for a colleague, with a contoured composite handle and a fitted leather sheath. These photographs show the finished piece from different angles, including the handle profile and blade pattern.

Dexter’s pendant
Small handmade object
A pendant made for Dexter, a fellow member of the Késportál knife community. The photographs include the original drawing, the finished pendant, and its cord and bead details.

Field companions
A collection of knives
A group of workshop pieces, photographed together. Different colours, handle shapes, and blade profiles give each one its own character.

From bench to blade
Work in progress
A sequence from the workshop: shaped metal details, loose components, the blade, and the assembled knife. A look at the stages behind a finished piece.

UAV radio heat sink
Drone component · 2025
Machining a heat sink for an MV04 UAV radio.

Computer enclosure
Electronics enclosure · 2026
A custom enclosure for a mini PC, with internal wiring, external connectors and two antennas.

Servo mechanisms
Mechanical assemblies · 2026
Two servo-operated mechanisms with machined brackets, springs and linkages.

Bearing assemblies
Turning & milling · 2026
Turning and milling circular housings, then fitting the bearings and inner parts. The gallery follows the machining and assembly.

Router table
Workshop equipment · 2026
Building a table around a router lift and adjustable fence, from cutting the worktop to the first cuts.

Aircraft display models
Display models · 2025
PROTAR aircraft display models on wooden stands, photographed from several angles. These are display pieces.
